Position title
Heritage Preservation Director - Cultural Programs and Site Protection
Description
Develop and implement programs that preserve Caribbean agricultural heritage while protecting culturally significant sites within the community garden network.
Responsibilities
- Design heritage education programs for community members
- Document traditional farming methods and seed varieties
- Coordinate with cultural organizations and elders
- Develop interpretive materials for garden sites
- Organize cultural events and workshops
- Ensure respectful integration of heritage elements in garden design
- Collaborate with local historians and cultural practitioners
- Oversee preservation of historical plantation sites and artifacts
Qualifications
- Background in cultural preservation, anthropology, or related field
- Deep knowledge of Caribbean agricultural traditions
- Experience in community education and programming
- Strong connections to local cultural communities
- Bilingual capabilities (English, Dutch, Papiamento)
- Passion for preserving cultural heritage
